Who are we?
As part of Edvance, the EDF–Framatome joint venture responsible for EPR design and engineering worldwide, EDF EPR Engineering UK contributes international EPR experience and expertise to the UK programme.
Its teams work in close collaboration with EDF's UK nuclear organisations to support the delivery of current and future EPR projects.
Supporting the UK's new nuclear programme
Around a fifth of Britain’s electricity is generated by EDF’s existing nuclear power stations, providing reliable, low carbon energy for millions of customers.
As the UK expands its nuclear capacity, EPR-E is responsible for ensuring that new build projects benefit from robust engineering, consistent design standards and a strong pipeline of technical capability.
Engineering the UK’s new build stations
EPR-E leads key elements of the engineering design for Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station in the UK for a generation, which will supply low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
The company plays a central role in preparing the replicated design for Sizewell C, enabling the UK to benefit from standardisation and engineering learning.
Strengthening engineering skills in Britain
With around 1,000 engineers and technical specialists based in Bristol and at the Hinkley Point C site, EPR-E is one of the largest centres of nuclear engineering expertise in the UK.
Its teams are helping develop the skills and experience needed to support major nuclear projects, long-term station operations and the wider clean energy transition.
